KC Ortiz’s work is an exploration on survival, preservation, and resistance in a world that is rapidly changing under political upheveal, economic inequality, misinformation, and technological advances. His Danish works are an extension of his practice and expand on to more personal subjects, such as immigration and integration, and observations using a layered visual language with familiar Danish icons. KC Ortiz (born in Chicago, Il, USA, 1978) is a self-taught photographer, illustrator and painter. He began his path in art at the age of 12 by painting graffiti in his hometown. His work examines the constant quest for freedom by the individual, both consciously and physically, in a landscape occupied by borders, obstacles, and distractions. The artist lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
