About the artwork
In his watercolour paintings, Hallstrøm works with a technique called strata - meaning a collection of layers. This term is also used within the field of geology, describing the layers formed at the earth's surface. With his works he references the abruption of a structure which usually has been horizontal, but instead vaults into new formations. Every layer is painted individually and dried, to create the intensity at the border of each layer.
