Jakob Oksbjerg (b. 1985 in Denmark) is a multi-disciplinary artist working with painting, sculpture, textile production and drawings. Oksbjerg strives to act as an artistic medium creating a space between what we define as 'real' and 'unreal' through the historic narratives that have shaped human consciousness. Through his praxis, he examines ways to materialize metaphysical observations in this seemingly 'real world'. He works with a wish to speak freely from the unreal and insert it into our 'reality', through a humorous and empathic idiom, with his body and art as a tool. The artist lives and works in Faxe, Denmark.
Jakob Oksbjerg art
Oksbjerg's works are figurative and based on a methodical approach to the materials he works with. His imagery stems from an exploration of distorted memories and historical narratives, and expresses an interest in pre-historic methods of signification and ritual practices. His compositions contain archetypal figures and atmospheric non-spaces based on subjective and spiritual experiences. Oksbjerg's works often contain an earthy color scheme combined with intense palettes.
